ISLAMABAD: Pakistani actor Mahira Khan is expecting her second child at 42, and the baby will be her first with her husband, businessman Salim Karim.
Khan announced her pregnancy earlier this month by sharing a photograph showing her baby bump while attending the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Canada.
“We make plans, and then there is ALLAH’S plan,” she wrote in the accompanying post.
The pregnancy marks a new chapter in Khan’s family life nearly three years after she married Karim in October 2023.
Second Marriage
Khan’s marriage to Karim is her second.
The couple married in an intimate ceremony in Bhurban in October 2023, following a relationship that Khan had previously spoken about publicly. Karim is a businessman and entrepreneur based in Pakistan.
Before marrying Karim, Khan was married to Ali Askari. The couple married in 2007 and later separated, with their marriage ending in divorce in 2015.
Her First Child
Khan is already a mother to a son, Azlan, from her first marriage to Askari.
Azlan was born in 2009/2010 and is now a teenager. He also played a prominent role in Khan’s second wedding, walking his mother down the aisle when she married Karim.
Khan has previously described her son as central to her life and spoken about the importance of their relationship.
New Chapter
The forthcoming baby will be Khan and Karim’s first child together and her second child overall.
The actor has also said the current pregnancy feels different from her first. She was in her mid-20s when she became pregnant with Azlan, while she is now 41 and preparing for motherhood again after almost two decades.
Khan, one of Pakistan’s best-known actors, made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the 2016 film Raees.
Her major Pakistani projects include Humsafar, Shehr-e-Zaat, Sadqay Tumhare, Superstar and The Legend of Maula Jatt
