LAHORE: Defending champions Lahore Qalandars have announced their coaching staff for the upcoming 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), set to take place from March 26 to May 3.
The franchise revealed the appointments on social media, highlighting the backroom team with the caption: “The men working behind the scenes on mission fourth.”
The coaching setup includes Dion Ibrahim, Amjad Ali, Riaz Afridi, Kashif Raza and Muhammad Saddiq.
This year’s tournament marks a major expansion, with eight teams competing for the first time. New sides Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindiz have been added, taking the total number of matches to 44 across a 39-day window.
In a shift from earlier plans, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revised logistics, deciding that all matches will be staged only in Karachi and Lahore, and played without spectators.
Initially, multiple cities including Multan, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad were under consideration as venues.
Revised schedule
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the updated arrangements during a media briefing, stating that the decisions were finalised after discussions with franchise owners and consultations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the league’s Patron-in-Chief.
According to the revised schedule, Lahore will host Eliminators 1 and 2 along with the final, while Karachi will stage the Qualifier. The opening fixture between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen will proceed as planned.
With matches to be played behind closed doors, organisers have announced upgraded broadcast and production elements to enhance the viewing experience for audiences both in Pakistan and globally.
