KSA Participates in UNESCO Executive Council’s 217th Session

PARIS: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), represented by its permanent delegation to UNESCO, is actively participating in the proceedings of the 217th session of the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).Saudi

The session commenced on Monday at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, France, and is set to continue until the 18th of this month.

Saudi Arabia’s delegation comprises the National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, as well as various competent national bodies.

Leading the delegation is the Saudi Ambassador to France, Fahd Al-Ruwaili, who delivered the Kingdom’s statement in the presence of high-level representatives from the Council’s 58-member states, the Chairman of the Executive Council of UNESCO, the President of the General Conference of UNESCO, and the Director-General of UNESCO.

During his address, Al-Ruwaili highlighted the outcomes of the expanded 45th session of the World Heritage Committee, which Riyadh hosted from September 10 to 25 last year.

He emphasized the Kingdom’s potential to successfully host such a gathering, which saw the participation of nearly 3,000 delegations from UNESCO member states, observers, advisory committees, and UNESCO staff.

Furthermore, Al-Ruwaili presented Saudi Arabia’s proposal to host the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT) in 2025. He underlined the Kingdom’s keenness to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to realize this goal. —SPA/APP
