KSA Cabinet Expresses Solidarity with Turkish People After Devastating Quake

RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) cabinet expressed solidarity with the Turkish and Syrian people after the devastating quake that ripped through the border area between the two nations killing thousands.

The cabinet meeting was presided over by King Salman on Tuesday. According to SPA Riyadh expressed its solidarity with earthquake-hit countries.

Quake and Turkish government

The first earthquake of magnitude 7.8 hit the border area between Syria and Turkiye at 4a.m. local time on Monday. The second 7.7 magnitude quake also struck the same area.

World Health Organization (WHO) said on Tuesday that around 23 million people may be affected by the devastating quake in Syria and Turkey. WHO added that the needs are the highest across Syria following 12-year of crisis while aid continues to decrease.

WHO top Emergency Officer Adelheid Marschang said that Turkish government had the capacity to respond to the quake but that the key unmet requirements immediately would be across the border in Syria, already grappling with a years-long crisis due to the civil war.
