KKAWF and TJADS Collaborate with Serena Hotels to Host Discussion on Drug Awareness in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Karim Khan Afridi Welfare Foundation (KKAWF) and The Jordan Anti-Drugs Society (TJADS) joined forces with Serena Hotels to organize a significant panel discussion titled “Early Drug Prevention Strategies: The Future of Youth.”

The event aimed to address the growing concern of drug abuse among Pakistani youth and foster awareness at an early age. KKAWF, led by Mrs. Cristina Von Sperling Afridi, has been at the forefront of raising awareness about the dangers of drug use among the youth in Pakistan.

The panel discussion commenced with opening remarks from Mrs. Afridi, setting the tone for the insightful sessions that followed. Esteemed senior journalist and anchor person Syed Talat Hussain and Dr. Ayesha Razzaque, former technical advisor to the Ministry of Education, served as moderators for the event.

The first session, “Early Prevention Strategies,” featured Dr. Mousa Daoud Al-Tarefi, President of the Jordan Anti-Drug Society, as the keynote speaker. The panelists, including narcotics and prevention specialists Syed Kaleem Imam, former Federal Secretary Senator, Sana Jamali, and Mrs. Afridi, shed light on effective preventive measures against drug abuse.

The second session, titled “Drug Use Prevention, Awareness, and Education; Learnings from Civil Society & Youth,” was moderated by Dr. Ayesha Razzaque. The panel comprised distinguished individuals in the field, namely Mr. Sarfraz Qamar Daha, Mrs. Lubna Ghani Haya Uddin, Mr. Wajahat Ali, and Adnan Malik. This session delved into insights and experiences from civil society, emphasizing the role of parents, educators, and innovative approaches to create a drug-free environment for future generations.

The event witnessed the participation of renowned experts, including psychologists, educators, addiction specialists, law enforcement professionals, and community leaders. Their valuable expertise contributed to practical strategies for combating drug abuse preemptively. The engagement of various stakeholders highlighted the collective responsibility in addressing this critical issue.

Towards the end of the event, Karim Khan Afridi Welfare Foundation and The Jordan Anti-Drugs Society signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their collaboration and work together to establish a drug-free environment for future generations in Pakistan.

The discussion, hosted in collaboration with Serena Hotels, served as an important platform to raise awareness and promote effective drug prevention strategies. It underscored the urgency of collective action from government bodies, educational institutions, and the wider community to protect Pakistani youth from the perils of drug abuse.
