King Abdulaziz Camel Festival to be Held on Thursday in Riyadh

King Abdulaziz Camel Festival 

RIYADH: Thousands of camels will take part in the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival in Riyadh on Thursday. The contesters will compete for dozens of prizes worth over 26 million dollars. The 45-day event is one of the largest camel festivals in the Arab world. The festival has become a tourist, cultural, entertainment, sports, and economic destination for the people of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries.

Thousands of camels will take part in the festival

It may be recalled that the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event will feature cultural shows, heritage exhibitions, and many other events. A total of 75 competitions will be held, while several different breeds of camels will participate in these contests.

Prominent journalist Ayedh Al-Abdullah told the media that the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival is a significant part of the Kingdom’s economy as it attracts local, regional, and foreign tourists and creates new job opportunities for both males and females.

He said that many foreign people and delegates would attend the famous festival and participate in many activities. He added that the event is also a seasonal commercial activity for many people in the area. He said the event is significant because it displays Saudi Arabia’s culture and heritage.

Camel festival is an opportunity to know Saudi Arabia

 Al-Abdullah said it is an opportunity to understand and know Saudi Arabia closely. He said that the camels have historical and cultural value in the economy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The journalist termed the event a great opportunity to highlight the culture for new generations. 

Zael Al-Daihani said that his camel would also take part in the event. He told Arab media that this is an opportunity to keep their heritage alive and highlight the significance of camels in their history.

He said that winning is symbolic, just a recognition of efforts. He added that the competition is a regional festival and a platform to interact with new people and reunite with old fellows. It may be recalled that more than 70 rounds of competition were held at the camel festival last year.

Camel Club and KSA’s Heritage Commission 

Earlier, a deal was inked between the club and the Kingdom’s Heritage Commission to boost training and develop marketing activities during the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, which will be held on Thursday. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked by Camel Club’s executive director and the commission’s CEO.

The two sides agreed on enabling the participation of craftspeople in all activities, events, and programs of the Camel Club to ensure their continuity and inherit their skills to the upcoming generations, especially at the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival in Riyadh. According to the agreement, they would discuss the possibility of setting up a special center to promote special events and festival camels.
