He stressed that peace was essential for development, investment and prosperity, and called for collective efforts to address the security challenges facing the province.
The governor assured the council members of his full support in their efforts to improve governance and promote public welfare. He urged them to deliver tangible results, saying the state, the federation and the people had placed their trust in them.
Governor Kundi highlighted the hardships faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa residents because of terrorism and said there could be no compromise on restoring peace.
He pledged full support for the police, the army and other law enforcement agencies in their efforts to eliminate terrorism and maintain law and order.
The governor also stressed the need to strengthen the operational capacity of the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) to tackle security threats effectively.
His remarks come amid concerns over the province’s law-and-order situation and the federal government’s decision to impose emergency measures and Governor’s Rule in the province.
Governor Kundi reiterated a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and directed the council to ensure that decisions were implemented within established timelines.
He urged members to work diligently and demonstrate a clear improvement in governance through their performance.
The governor also called for the adoption of successful governance practices from Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, saying effective initiatives should be replicated regardless of the province in which they originated.
Governor Kundi said restoring peace would help improve the province’s image, attract tourists and investors, and unlock its economic potential.
He cited the province’s resources in oil and gas, minerals, water, electricity and tourism as areas that could contribute to economic growth and prosperity if security and stability were ensured.
The Advisory Council comprises prominent figures from the country’s administrative, economic, legal, political and medical sectors. The council includes two former chairmen of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), a former senator, a former Advocate General, a former Inspector General (IG) and a former Surgeon General of the Pakistan Army.
The advisory council includes experts representing the sectors of finance, energy, minerals, law, industry, interior affairs, information, education, health, and development.
Earlier, the federal government had imposed emergency and governor’s rule in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after President Asif Ali Zardari signed the summary forwarded by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The federal cabinet decided on Sunday to impose an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and introduce governor’s rule following a sharp increase in terrorist attacks.
The federal cabinet decision came in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday, according to government sources.
The federal government took the step under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution, which deal with emergency provisions and the breakdown of constitutional governance in a province.
