SRINAGAR: In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), led by incarcerated senior Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmad Shah, has felicitated Pakistan on the successful hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and expressed optimism that this high-profile meeting would foster regional peace, progress, development, and enhanced cooperation among member nations.
In a statement, DFP spokesperson Advocate Arshad Iqbal said that the successful SCO meeting, featuring the participation of the Prime Ministers of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar, represents a significant diplomatic milestone for Pakistan.
He hoped that Jaishankar’s participation could help ease tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi. He also emphasized the necessity of reviving the dialogue process between the two neighbors to create an environment of stability and peace.
Highlighting the need for sustainable talks to resolve the enduring Kashmir issue, he noted that the SCO’s ambitious targets for ensuring prosperity and peace in the region would remain unattainable without a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue, in line with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
He also asserted that it is high time for the India to abandon its traditional stubbornness, admit the ground realities, and resume stalled talks with Pakistan to address all outstanding issues, particularly the Kashmir dispute that happens to be the mother of all issues, APP reported.
According to APP, he also emphasized that the people of Kashmir have consistently supported meaningful and result-oriented talks between the two sides. However, he maintained that any discussions that exclude the Kashmir dispute would be a futile exercise.
