ISLAMABAD: Like the recent ODI World Cup, Kane Williamson is facing another slight injury and might miss the last three matches of New Zealand’s ongoing five T20I series against Pakistan, an international sports media outlet Cricinfo reported here on Monday. The Kiwis skipper suffered a hamstring injury during the 2nd T20I match against Pakistan, which was played in Hamilton on Sunday.

According to the details, the Black Caps’ captain left for home and will undergo a scan on Monday. Being away from his team, he would miss the third match of the series in Dunedin on Wednesday and is also doubtful for the final two games.

Williamson went out of the crease and retired hurt when he was playing on 26 off 15 balls on Sunday after feeling pain in his right hamstring. Kiwis’ Coach said that it was the same leg when Kane was away from cricket for six months last year.

Apart from his leg and knee issues, Kane also suffered a thumb injury during the recent World Cup in India and missed several matches. Now, after receiving repeated injuries, it is still not clear whether Williamson will play against Australia in the T20I from February 21-25. However, his supporters are hopeful he will be available in the upcoming T2OI World Cup in June this year.

New Zealand leads the table in the ongoing series against Pakistan with series 2-0. The third T20I will be played on Wednesday.
