WASHINGTON: Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has said that his country will not accept the displacement of Palestinian people, Arab media reported.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi condemned Israel’s “blatant aggression” on the Gaza Strip and said that Jordan would not permit any attempt to “empty the population” of the besieged Gaza.

Safadi maintained that the war “is not going to give any security to Israel”. He also said that neither his country nor Egypt would accept the forced displacement of Palestinian people from their own soil or permit Israel “to proceed with its policies of transferring the catastrophe to the region”.

He said that the right to self-defence does not mean a license to kill innocent people with impunity, saying it does not mean assaulting the entire community. Safadi further said that most of the Palestinian people killed in the Israeli military attack are women and children.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s King Abdullah II called for the protection of civilian population in a phone call with US President Joe Biden, the Royal Hashemite Court said on Thursday. On the other hand, a White House official also confirmed that President Biden spoke with King Abdullah regarding the latest developments in Gaza.

According to Jordanian media, King Abdullah called for an urgent truce in the Gaza Strip and the protection of civilian population, stressing the significance of maintaining strong coordination and exerting efforts to end the fighting and reach peace.

Discussions also covered assuring the delivery of adequate humanitarian and relief aid to the Gaza Strip without any delay, with King Abduallah warning that the humanitarian situation will worsen further if Israeli aggressions continue.
