TOKYO, Japan: Japan has urged its citizens to leave Lebanon and is preparing military flights for possible evacuations, as Israeli bombing continues in the region. Hundreds of people have been killed in Lebanon, particularly in Hezbollah strongholds, with the militant group retaliating with rocket attacks.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi stated that the government is checking the safety of Japanese nationals and advising them to leave while commercial flights are still available. The Defence Ministry has also deployed C-2 transport aircraft to Jordan and Greece, ready to evacuate around 50 Japanese citizens if needed.
Japan’s foreign minister, Yoko Kamikawa, expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict and urged all parties to exercise restraint.
