GAZA CITY, Palestine: Israeli strikes in the central Gaza Strip killed three people on Sunday, including a child, health officials said.

An airstrike killed two people in the town of Al-Zawayda, including a four-year-old child named Muhammad Abdel Salam Taha, according to the civil defence rescue service.

Medics said flying debris and shrapnel that spread for dozens of metres around had wounded at least six people.

“The two martyrs as well as several wounded were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah,” also in central Gaza, the civil defence told AFP.

The second airstrike took place in the nearby Nuseirat refugee camp, the health officials said. One person was killed in the Israeli strike on the Nuseirat refugee camp.

The Israeli military told AFP that it had “targeted a terrorist” in one of the strikes, and said it would provide further details later.

The October 2025 ceasefire has reduced but not halted violence in Gaza.

Israeli violations of ceasefire

Hamas accuses Israel of violating the ceasefire and undermining efforts ‌to implement a broader plan by US President Donald Trump to end the Gaza conflict, which also includes Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.

Israeli operations in Gaza have killed 1,286 people since the ceasefire came into effect, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

Meanwhile, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, health officials said Israeli forces had shot and killed a 14-year-old boy, Islam Ajjouri, during a raid into Askar refugee camp near Nablus.

The Israeli military said it was looking into the incident.

The West Bank, home to 3 million Palestinians, has seen a rise in illegal Israeli settler violence and seizures of land and resources.
