GAZA: The Israeli army has bombed a house in the Nassr neighbourhood of the city of Rafah, killing 8 people and injuring several, Arab media reported on Friday.

According to the Wafa news agency three women and three children were among those killed in the Israeli brutal strike.

The recent strike took place as Washington will ask the UNSC on Friday to support a resolution calling for an immediate truce in Gaza, increasing pressure on Israel to permit more humanitarian help and better protect civilian population.

A spokesperson for the US mission to the UN said that the resolution resulted from several rounds of consultations with members of the UNSC.

Earlier, Washington had opposed the truce and vetoed steps that included calls for an urgent truce in Gaza. According to Reuters, the draft resolution demands an immediate and sustained truce lasting roughly six weeks would protect civilian population and allow for the delivery of humanitarian help.

To approve in the UNSC, a resolution requires at least nine votes in support and no veto by the US, Britain, France, Russia and China.

The UN resolution is also seeking to provide more humanitarian help to Gazans, where severe hunger is deteriorating with each passing day.

During the war between Hamas and Israel, the US had vetoed three resolutions, two which would have demanded an immediate truce in the region. Most recently, the US has justified its veto by insisting such action could jeopardize truce talks.

Washington traditionally protects Israel at the United Nations, but it has also abstained two times, permitting the UNSC to approve resolutions on increasing help and calling for extended breaks in fighting.

Earlier, around 70 former U.S. officials including diplomats have asked Joe Biden to warn Israel of grave consequences if it refutes basic necessities and civil rights to Palestinian people and increases settlement activities in the occupied West Bank.
