GAZA: The Israeli army has bombed a house in Rafah in southern Gaza, killing around six people, the local media reported on Friday.
According to Wafa News Agency, several people have been injured in the attack, which struck the Rafah’s al-Zuhur neighbourhood. Arab media reported that many people have also been wounded after an Israeli bomb struck a home in the Tal al-Sultan neighbourhood, Rafah, while 9 people were wounded in a bombing targeting the Bureij camp in Gaza.
Earlier, two people were killed and five wounded in an Israeli air strike on a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza and artillery shooting east of Fukhari in the south of Gaza. Israel’s war in the Gaza has killed more than 34,000 people, the Palestinian health ministry announced.
On Thursday, 57 US House Democrats have inked an open letter calling for Biden’s administration to take measure to stop an Israeli offensive on Rafah in southern Gaza. According to Arab media, the group, led by Representatives Madeleine Dean and Pramila Jayapal, stated Washington “must act to protect innocent life.” The letter added, “We urge you to invoke the current law and policy to immediately withhold certain offensive military support to the Israel, including support sourced from legislation already inked into law, to stop a full-scale attack on Rafah.”
Biden’s support for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has fuelled increasing discontent among sections of Democrats ahead of the next presidential elections in the United States. The “uncommitted” protest campaign is also gathering pace, while pro-Palestine protestors have also taken hold at college campuses across the US.
