Israel-Palestine Escalation: UAE, Iran Discuss Regional Developments

ABU DHABI: Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has received a phone call from His Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and discussed on going developments in Gaza, Arab media reported on Thursday.

According to Emirates News Agency, the two leaders discussed repercussions of the Israeli-Palestinian escalation and global efforts being made to de-escalate the situation while stressing the importance of protecting civilians.

Sheikh Abdullah warned about the danger of continued escalation to the security and stability of the region.

He underscored the importance of unifying and coordinating all regional and international efforts with an objective to end extremism and violence. He added the escalating tension could have dire consequences for the region and its people.

The conflict, which has escalated dramatically in recent days, has led to a devastating loss of life, with more than 1,100 innocent Palestinian civilians martyred and countless others wounded because of the persistent Israeli military airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

Israel in its air strikes on Gaza has razed entire districts and has put Gaza under total siege to stop food and fuel reaching the area inhabited by 2.3 million people, many poor and dependent on aid.
