RIYADH: The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) launched a legal training programme on countering terrorist financing at its headquarters on Sunday, in cooperation with the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre, in the presence of IMCTC Secretary-General Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi and representatives of member states, with the participation of 25 trainees from Palestine and Chad.
The programme, held from July 19 to 23, aims to develop the legal, institutional, and operational capacities of personnel in law enforcement agencies, financial intelligence units, public prosecution offices, and relevant authorities to detect, investigate, and prosecute terrorist financing crimes in line with international obligations, including UN Security Council resolutions and Financial Action Task Force recommendations, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The programme also supports international cooperation mechanisms, including mutual legal assistance, extradition, joint investigations, and information exchange, and is part of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition’s strategic initiatives to build member states’ capacities across its four pillars: ideological, media, counter-terrorist financing, and military, according to SPA.
