TEHRAN, Iran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to return to Pakistan after his visit to Oman, Iranian state media reported, as Islamabad intensified diplomatic efforts to revive stalled talks between Washington and Tehran.
Iran’s official IRNA news agency reported that Araghchi would stop again in Islamabad before travelling to Russia.

According to Iran’s ISNA news agency, Araghchi is expected to meet Pakistani officials during his return visit to convey “Iran’s positions and views on the framework of any understanding to completely end the war”.
ISNA reported that the foreign minister had been in Islamabad a day earlier before travelling to Oman, while other Iranian envoys returned to Tehran “to consult and obtain the necessary instructions on issues related to ending the war”.

Araghchi terms Pakistan visit fruitful
On Saturday, Araghchi termed his visit to Pakistan as fruitful, appreciating Islamabad’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
In a post on X he acknowledged Pakistan’s positive role in supporting dialogue and reducing tensions.
“Very fruitful visit to Pakistan, whose good offices and brotherly efforts to bring back peace to our region we very much value,” he said.
“Shared Iran’s position concerning a workable framework to permanently end the war on Iran. Have yet to see if the U.S. is truly serious about diplomacy,” he added.

Talks focus on the regional situation
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had hailed the meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as the “most warm, cordial exchange of views on the current regional situation”.
“We also discussed matters of mutual interest, including the further strengthening of Pakistan–Iran bilateral relations,” he said on X.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar posted on social media that the meeting with the Iranian delegation lasted around two hours and Pakistan emphasised “the importance of dialogue and diplomacy”.

Engagement with military leadership
Foreign Minister Araghchi also held a separate meeting with the Chief of Defence Forces and the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, where both sides reviewed matters of mutual interest and the broader regional situation, according to state media.
The meeting was attended by Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Asim Malik and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Part of broader regional tour
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad on late Friday for high-level talks. Iran’s state news agency, IRNA, said Araghchi’s visit to Islamabad forms part of a broader regional tour that includes Muscat and Moscow.
It said that from Pakistan, Araghchi will travel to Oman for talks on regional developments.
“The purpose of this trip is to hold bilateral consultations, discuss ongoing developments in the region, and review the latest situation regarding the war imposed by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran,” the agency reported.
