TEHRAN: Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, will take part in the signing of a peace memorandum with the United States intended to end the conflict between the two countries, a senior Iranian diplomat said.
Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said Qalibaf would represent Tehran at the formalisation of the accord, which is designed to halt months of confrontation and pave the way for broader diplomatic engagement.

According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, Takht-Ravanchi noted that discussions were still under way regarding the exact location and format of the ceremony. He said no final decision had yet been announced on where the agreement would be signed or how the proceedings would be conducted.
The development comes amid increasing diplomatic efforts, particularly by Pakistan, to consolidate a ceasefire and establish a framework for longer-term stability between Washington and Tehran.
On Monday, US President Donald Trump said Vice President JD Vance would represent the United States at the official signing ceremony, which he indicated would take place in Geneva on June 19.
The anticipated agreement marks a significant step in efforts to ease tensions between the two long-standing adversaries and could open the door to further negotiations on wider regional and security issues.
Pakistan will host the signing ceremony of the landmark peace agreement between the United States and Iran aimed at ending months of military confrontation in Geneva on June 19.
