ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has arrived in Pakistan for a three-day official visit. This is the first visit by any Head of State to Pakistan after the general polls in February 2024.
During his stay in Pakistan, President Raisi will hold meeting with Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, a foreign office statement said. It added that Raisi was also scheduled to visit Karachi and Lahore, where he would hold meeting with the provincial leadership.
President Ebrahim Raisi would be accompanied by his spouse, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and other cabinet members, top officials as well as a large business delegation.
The Foreign Office said that they will have a wide-ranging agenda to further Pakistan-Iran relations and enhance cooperation in diverse sectors including connectivity, trade, agriculture, energy, and people-to-people contacts.
According to the Foreign Office, they will also discuss global and regional developments and bilateral cooperation to curb the common threat of terrorism. Iran and Pakistan enjoy strong bilateral relations anchored in history, religion and culture.
