TEHRAN, Iran: Iran has issued a stark warning to Israel, cautioning that any new military “adventures” in Lebanon could lead to “unforeseen consequences.” This follows a deadly rocket strike in the Israel-annexed Golan Heights, which Israel blames on Hezbollah, a Tehran-backed group.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani stated that any “ignorant action” by Israel could broaden instability, insecurity, and war in the region. He emphasized that Israel would be responsible for any unexpected repercussions resulting from such behavior.

Hezbollah claimed multiple attacks on Israeli military positions after a deadly raid on southern Lebanon but denied involvement in the rocket fire that Israeli authorities say killed 12 people, including children, in Majdal Shams. Kanani accused Israel of blaming Hezbollah to divert attention from its actions in Gaza, where war has been ongoing since October 7.

Kanani further asserted that Israel lacks the moral authority to comment on the deaths in Majdal Shams, a region seized from Syria in 1967 and later annexed, a move not recognized by the United Nations. Iran, which does not recognize Israel, supports the Palestinian cause and has hailed Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel, despite denying direct involvement.
