JERUSALEM: The dron and missile strikes by Iran caused “minor damage” to an Israeli base, Israeli army said Sunday, after Iran’s state media reported “heavy blows” to the base.
Israel Army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari in a statement said that only a few missiles fell in the Israeli territory with slight damage to a military base in the south and only slight damage to the infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary-General, condemned Iran’s drone attacks targeting Israel on Saturday as a “serious escalation” and called on the warring parties to show restraint to avoid a devastating regional conflagration.
“I strongly condemn the serious escalation represented by the large-scale attack launched on Israel by the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said in a statement.
Guterres was very alarmed about what he said very real danger of region-wide escalation. “I am deeply alarmed about the very real danger of a devastating region-wide escalation. I urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid any action that could lead to major military confrontations on multiple fronts in the Middle East.”
