ISLAMABAD: Iran has said that it executed the first known prisoner convicted for a crime linked to the ongoing nationwide protests.
Irani officials said it hanged a prisoner over his conviction for a crime allegedly committed during the ongoing nationwide protests, on Thursday. Mizan news agency of Iran has reported the execution. It accused the man of blocking a street and attacking a member of the security forces in Tehran.

First known prisoner executed
The agency, run by the country’s judiciary, has identified the executed person as Mohsen Shekari. It said he had been convicted in Tehran’s Court, which typically holds closed-door cases globally criticized in other court cases in Iran.
