ISLAMABAD: Pakistan cricket team’s Chief Selector Inzamam ul Haq on Monday resigned from the position amidst the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. Inzamam’s decision follows allegations that he was involved as a partner in a players’ management company, raising concerns about a potential conflict of interest.

In a statement, Inzamam ul Haq addressed the allegations, stating, “People speak without research. Questions were raised on me, so I decided that it was better I resign.” According to a private news channel, the controversy emerged after it was revealed that Inzamam was reportedly a partner in a management company registered with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The company allegedly managed contracts for several top players, including Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, both of whom were also associated with the firm.

Inzamam ul Haq Denies Allegations

This revelation led to speculation and questions about Inzamam’s impartiality in his role as chief selector. The controversy further complicates matters for the Pakistan cricket team, which is already facing criticism due to its performance in the ongoing ICC World Cup in India.
In his statement, Inzamam vehemently denied any wrongdoing, stating, “People are making statements without research. I told the PCB management to do their research. I have no relation with the player-agent company.” He also indicated his willingness to cooperate with any investigation initiated by the cricket board to clear his name.
