New Delhi, India: India’s capital New Delhi is covered in poisonous smog following a night of fireworks as residents celebrated Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.
On Tuesday, levels of fine particulate matter — dangerous microparticles known as PM2.5 pollutants that enter the bloodstream through the lungs — surged to more than 23 times the World Health Organization [WHO] recommended daily maximum, according to monitoring firm IQAir.
