NEW DELHI: Pandemic gave new ways to the process of attaining education all over the world. Taking it a step further, India is planning to introduce digital space to allow more students to complete their higher education.

As per ‘’The Times of India’’ in the academic year 2022-2023, students can get 50 percent of the credit from one university and 50 percent from a Higher Education Institution (HEI) of their choice.
The students of India will have the option of getting a degree from the National Digital University (NDU) and earning credit from different Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). For instance, if a student enrolled in any institution in India and gets 50 percent of the credits, the student will be awarded a degree at that institution . Students can enroll in National Digital University to earn the remaining credit from different universities.
National digital university
It will be the first digital institution in India and will also lead the establishment of the Higher Education Commission of India. The focus is to give students the option to complete their higher education via digital universities. It will start with diploma programs and certificates; degree courses will introduce later.
According to the Times of India report, the institution will operate on the ‘’Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) platform. Swayam is planning on designing the syllabus for courses of the university along with the institution which already offered online courses. National Digital University allows students from both private and government institutions which fulfill the eligibility criteria
The Higher Education Council of India (HECI) draft bill plans to comprise University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and National Council for Teacher Education.
