ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, party’s president, reportedly exchanged messages while both are currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. These messages revolve around discussions concerning the upcoming general elections in the country, DNA reported.

Citing sources close to the matter, DNA reported that Pervaiz Elahi was consulted over the distribution of PTI tickets in the Punjab province. Imran Khan assured Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi that he values his opinion and intends to prioritize it in the process of distributing party tickets for the upcoming elections.

However, when questioned by journalists during a courtroom appearance, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi denied any contact with the PTI chairman. He refuted claims of their exchange of messages regarding ticket distribution, responding humorously, “On the contrary, food is not good in jail. I have got food poisoning. I have come here with great difficulty.”

When pressed about the alleged communication with Imran Khan, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi avoided the question, mentioning that the wall of Imran Khan’s cell was demolished following a visit by a judge.

He also made clear his commitment to the PTI, emphasizing that he would not leave the party. He stated, “I will not leave PTI; that’s why I’m in jail.” Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi expressed strong support for Imran Khan, asserting that an election without him would lack credibility.

He commented on the ongoing situation, suggesting that the PML-N is relying on the Supreme Court’s decision, and he praised the recent ruling. He expressed interest in learning about Nawaz Sharif’s narrative.

In addition, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi discussed the cipher case and anticipated victories for Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

He also lamented the prison authorities’ non-compliance with court orders related to providing facilities for inmates, including access to a personal physician’s visit.

An anti-terrorism court adjourned the hearing of a case related to vandalism at the Judicial Complex against Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi until October 24. The hearing took place under the supervision of the Court of Duty Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand, as Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain was on leave.

During the hearing, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi requested a later hearing date due to his appearance in another court in Lahore on the same day. However, the duty judge maintained the original hearing date and adjourned the case to October 24.
