TOKYO, Japan: Pop star Katy Perry on Saturday made her first social media post featuring former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, posting images and video from a joint trip to Tokyo that confirm the couple’s relationship.
Perry, 41, shared a carousel of photos and a short clip on Instagram on 6 December. The pictures show the pair together in candid moments — a cheek-to-cheek selfie, the couple eating lunch, and both admiring an art exhibition.
Perry captioned the post: “Tokyo times on tour and more,” with seasonal emojis and a heart, according to the Instagram post.

Trudeau, 53, had earlier acknowledged the relationship publicly on X while responding to a post by Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida.
“Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko,” Trudeau wrote, thanking Kishida for his friendship and support for a rules-based international order, the X post shows.
Seen together in Japan
The pair visited Tokyo on official and private business. They were photographed meeting Mr Kishida and his wife, Yuko, who later described Perry as Trudeau’s “partner” in remarks accompanying the meeting, the images and posts indicate.
Observers also spotted the couple holding hands and sharing private moments during the trip.
Perry and Trudeau were first linked in July. The new Instagram post marks a more public phase of their relationship.
A source told People magazine last month that the couple were “making plans for the holidays,” the report said.
Both are coming out of long-term relationships. Perry separated from actor Orlando Bloom earlier this year.
Trudeau and his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau separated in 2023. Sophie Grégoire Trudeau has commented publicly on moving on from past relationships, saying she tries “to listen to the music instead of the noise,” People reported.
Bloom responded privately to the news with light commentary on social media, reacting with clapping emojis to a satirical article about him, a post that circulated online.

Perry’s Instagram post included a short black-and-white video of the couple sharing sushi, with Trudeau wrapping an arm around Perry as she ate. Another image shows them side-by-side at an art installation.
The posts underline the couple’s decision to make the relationship public through social media.
The appearances in Tokyo follow several months of reports linking Perry and Trudeau.
