JAKARTA: All eight people on board an Airbus H130 helicopter were killed when it crashed in Sekadau regency, in Indonesia’s West Kalimantan province, authorities said on Friday.

The aircraft was carrying six passengers along with a pilot and a co-pilot.

According to officials, the helicopter departed from Melawi regency at 7:34 am local time (0034 GMT) and lost contact just over an hour later at 8:39 am.

“All victims have been confirmed dead,” a Sekadau police official told local media.

Rescue teams reached the crash site later the same day, but evacuation operations were slowed by difficult terrain and poor visibility, authorities said.
