ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) under the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Careers Programme organized on Tuesday a prestigious Prize Ceremony to honour the achievements of participants in 2022 and 2023 at the International Science Olympiads.
Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed was the chief guest at the ceremony. The event was attended by Executive Director HEC Awais Ahmad, Rector Institute of Engineering and Applied Science Dr. Naseem Irfan, faculty members, relevant HEC officials, and students.
The STEM Career Programme is a joint venture of PIEAS and HEC. It has two goals to pursue. First, it aims to inspire youth to opt for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and prepare them for participation in the annual International Olympiad in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
HEC Chairman Appreciates Performance
Dr. Mukhtar said that our teams have been performing exceptionally well, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for gold medals in the future.
Dr. Naseem Irfan underlined the significance of benchmarking with international competition and the need for continuous improvement in STEM education.

He emphasized the importance of expanding the STEM careers programme and expressed his intent to continue this exercise to nurture future talent.
Addressing the International Science Olympiad participants, Dr. Naseem encouraged them to contribute to their areas and strive for excellence.
He urged them to keep their curiosity alive, stressing that only innovators would survive in the long term.
