DUSHANBE: As many as 21 people have died as three days of heavy rains have caused flooding, mudflows and landslides in Tajikistan, local media reported on Thursday. An official of the Committee for Emergency Situations told media that “there are 21 people dead”.
Heavy Rains Kill 21 in Tajikistan
The deaths were reported in central Tajikistan close to the country’s capital, Dushanbe. Videos and Images have appeared on different platforms of social media platforms, showing vehicles on flooded and damaged several roads in the Central Asian country.

Earlier, the authorities said on Monday that the risk of landslides remained high because of heavy rains in the country. The authorities also warned citizens to remain cautious, particularly around Tajikistan’s mountains.
The European Union’s envoy to Tajikistan, Raimundas Karoblis, has offered deep condolences to the families and relatives of the victims.
