ISLAMABAD: The Caretaker Health Minister, Dr. Nadeem Jan, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating polio from Pakistan. This commitment was emphasized during a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam in Islamabad, where they discussed the critical issue of wild poliovirus transmission in the southern districts of the province.
Dr. Nadeem Jan highlighted that southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is at the epicenter of poliovirus transmission, making it a focal point for intervention efforts. To address this, a comprehensive strategy has been developed and is being implemented in the region. This strategy involves a coordinated and targeted approach, with leading experts stationed in Bannu, aimed at achieving the goal of interrupting wild poliovirus transmission by December of this year.
In his remarks, Dr. Nadeem Jan commended the frontline workers who play a pivotal role in the polio eradication program. He acknowledged their unwavering commitment to protecting children from the disease and emphasized the crucial role they play as champions of the polio eradication initiative.
