Hamas Frees Two American Hostages on Humanitarian Grounds

GAZA: Hamas, the Palestinian group ruling Gaza strip has freed two American hostages, from around 200 captives on humanitarian grounds, western media reported on Friday.

Hamas said in a statement on Telegram said that in response to Qatari efforts, al-Qassam Brigades released two American citizens a mother and her daughter on humanitarian reasons.

The Islamist group did not provide detail about how or when the hostages were released.

Earlier the Israeli military said that most of those abducted to Gaza were still alive. An army statement said that majority of the hostages are alive.

The Hamas-controlled health ministry on Friday claimed that at least 4,137 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since Israel began bombing at the Palestinian enclave.

The ministry said 13,162 people have been injured in the Israeli strikes, ongoing since October 7.

The ministry further said 16 people have also been died at the compound of the Greek Orthodox church of Saint Porphyrius in Gaza City late on Thursday.
