ISLAMABAD: The federal government of Pakistan has ruled out any possibility of an oil crisis in the country, saying that the oil reserves required by the country are in stock.

According to an official statement, the petroleum ministry vehemently denied the fears of petroleum shortage in the country, referring to it as “rumours” circulating on social media.

The ministry clarified that it had the required reserves already available in stock and that there was “no possibility of oil shortage.”

The petroleum ministry stated that the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and other companies have sufficient stock of diesel, petrol, kerosene, and other petroleum products.

The ministry added that the quantity of diesel available for storage in Pakistan is at full capacity, so people should not listen to misleading information, rumours, and speculations.

PSO has adequate oil stock

In a separate statement posted on Twitter, the PSO also stressed that it had adequate stocks available in the supply chain according to the OGRA’s specified day, saying: “As the PSO is committed to fuelling the country and is ensuring an uninterrupted fuel supply at its retail outlets countrywide.”

In their official communique, both the ministry of petroleum and PSO requested that the rumours and speculations of the petrol shortage not be shared or circulated by the media.
