PESHAWAR: In the aftermath of the sudden demise of Acting Chief Minister Azam Khan on November 11, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Haji Ghulam Ali, has taken a proactive step by inviting Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and Opposition Leader Akram Khan Durrani for consultations regarding the appointment of a new caretaker CM in the province.

Azam Khan, who had been serving as the Acting Chief Minister, was laid to rest on the same day in the ancestral graveyard in Parang area of Charsadda district.

Governor Haji Ghulam Ali, in line with Article 224(1A) of the constitution, has initiated the consultation process for the selection of a new caretaker CM. The invitation, addressed to Mahmood Khan and Akram Khan Durrani, outlines the need to conclude the consultation process within three days starting from November 11.

This move underscores the importance of swift decision-making in the wake of Azam Khan’s unfortunate passing. The consultation process is expected to bring together key figures to deliberate on the appointment of a new caretaker Chief Minister for the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
