ISLAMABAD: Domestic bullion prices advanced sharply on Friday as a firm global trend pushed gold above the Rs 444,000-per-tola mark, extending the metal’s recovery in the local market.

According to rates issued by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the gold price per tola rose by Rs 3,000 to settle at Rs 444,462. The 10-gram rate increased from Rs 2,572 to Rs 381,054.

The association noted that the increase mirrored international movement. Globally, spot gold soared by $30 to $4,221 per ounce, including the $20 premium. Dealers said the uptick reflected safe-haven buying overseas as investors tracked shifting economic signals.

The rise followed Thursday’s session, when gold per tola had eased by Rs 1,700 to Rs 441,462 after volatility in global trading.

Silver prices also strengthened. APGJSA reported an increase of Rs 72, taking silver per tola to Rs 6,072.
