BERLIN: Germany will send its tanks to Ukraine to assist defend against Russia if the US agrees to send its own tanks, Reuters reported on Wednesday.
Kyiv has pleaded for new modern Western arms, especially heavy tanks, so it can regain momentum this year after some battlefield successes in 2022 against Russian troops that attacked last February.

Germany has veto power over any decision to export its tanks, fielded by Nato-allied militaries across Europe and seen by experts as the most suitable for Kyiv.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has stressed the alliance about the United States battle tanks many times during the meetings, a source in the German Government told Reuters on the conditions of anonymity.

US President Joe Biden’s spokesperson Jean-Pierre said that the US President believes that each nation should make its own sovereign decisions regarding security aid and help for Ukraine.
