BERLIN: Germany deported 22 Afghan nationals to Kabul on a charter flight on Tuesday, the Interior Ministry said, as the government moves to step up deportations to Afghanistan.
Germany’s interior ministry said all 22 Afghans were men who had been ordered to leave Germany and whose deportation orders were enforceable. The ministry said all 22 Afghan nationals had criminal records or had come to the attention of judicial authorities in connection with criminal cases.
“This morning, 22 Afghan men who were required to leave the country and whose deportation orders were enforceable were returned to Kabul,” the ministry said.
“All of them, without exception, are men who have committed criminal offences here and have come to the attention of judicial authorities in connection with criminal matters,” the ministry added.

The deportations came a week after Germany sent another 30 Afghan nationals to Afghanistan. Figures show that Germany has deported around 250 Afghans to Afghanistan since May 2025.
German media have reported that under arrangements between German authorities and the Taliban regime, up to three special deportation flights to Afghanistan could be conducted each month.
