RIYADH: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi expressed his condemnation and denunciation in the strongest terms of the airstrikes launched by Israeli occupation forces targeting Syria’s Abu Al-Duhur Military Airport in Idlib Governorate.

“The brutal Israeli targeting of Syrian territory constitutes an unacceptable violation of its sovereignty and territorial sanctity, contradicting international rules and norms that prohibit infringing upon state sovereignty,” the secretary general stated, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The GCC chief underlined that the continuation of such practices increases tension and escalation, as well as undermines regional and international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.

Albudaiwi called on the international community to assume its responsibilities, take a firm stance against these violations, and work to halt Israeli attacks on Syrian territory in order to safeguard its security and stability.

The secretary-general reiterated the GCC states’ solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic, its sovereignty, and its territorial integrity.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia strongly condemned Israeli occupation forces’ airstrikes targeting Abu al-Duhur Military Airport in Syria.

Saudi Foreign Ministry, in a statement on Tuesday, described the airstrikes as a flagrant violation of international law and of the sovereignty of Syria.

“The Kingdom stresses its rejection of this blatant act of aggression and renews its call on the international community to put an end to Israel’s violations of international laws and norms,” the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia also reaffirmed its solidarity with Syria and its support for all efforts aimed at safeguarding its sovereignty, preserving the integrity and unity of its territory, and achieving security and stability for the brotherly Syrian people.

Syria condemns Israeli strikes

Syria’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, describing the targeting of the airbase as “unjustified” and calling on the international community and the UN Security Council to condemn what it described as repeated Israeli violations.

US Special Presidential Envoy for Syria and Iraq Tom Barrack said the United States was “deeply concerned” about the strikes.

“We are deeply concerned that the confirmed Israeli airstrikes on Abu al-Duhur Airbase constitute an unnecessary escalation that does not advance regional stability,” Barrack said on X.
