GAZA CITY, Palestine: At least 18 Palestinians were killed, including three children, in Israeli air strikes across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, the territory’s Health Ministry said, as Israel continued attacks despite a ceasefire.
The latest fatalities included four Palestinians killed in an Israeli drone strike targeting a vehicle in the Saraya area of central Gaza City, medical sources said. Several other people were injured in attacks across the Palestinian enclave.
Medical officials at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis said three members of the Al-Hams family were killed when an Israeli air strike hit an apartment in the Al-Qarara area northwest of the city.
The victims were identified as Mahmoud Zaki Al-Hams, 38, his wife Fatima Al-Hams, 37, and their young daughter. Three other people were injured in the strike, hospital officials and witnesses said.
In central Gaza, medical sources said Kamal Abu Muailiq, 68, and his wife Huda, 59, were killed when an Israeli helicopter struck their home in the Al-Mashaala area west of Deir al-Balah.
Two more Palestinians were killed in a separate air strike targeting a motorcycle in the same city, the sources said.
Strikes hit Gaza City
In Gaza City, two Palestinians, including a child, were killed and eight others, several of them children, were injured when an Israeli strike hit a tent sheltering displaced families, Palestinian medical sources said.
Another air strike struck an apartment in Al-Sousi Tower, killing Abdullah Abu Taif, 33, his wife Abeer Anan, 29, their five-year-old son Azzam and the couple’s unborn baby, medical officials at Al-Shifa Hospital said.
A Palestinian was also killed in Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, while another person was critically injured in the same attack, medical sources said.
Another person was wounded in a separate strike on an apartment near the Palestine Mosque in Gaza City’s Al-Nasr neighbourhood.
Israeli military vehicles also opened fire towards eastern parts of the Al-Tuffah neighbourhood, according to local residents.
Hospital supplies damaged
The latest attacks followed an Israeli strike on Saturday that damaged medicine warehouses attached to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said two of the hospital’s four medical storage facilities were destroyed and two others were severely damaged.
Munir al-Bursh, the ministry’s director-general, said the warehouses contained intravenous fluids, dialysis supplies and other essential medical equipment.
The Israeli military said on Saturday that it had struck a Hamas facility near the hospital that was being used to store weapons. It did not provide evidence to support the claim.
The continued violence comes as diplomatic efforts to secure a broader agreement remain under way.
US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that progress had been made towards implementing a new phase of negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.
A body known as the Board of Peace said Hamas had accepted a proposed roadmap.
The Gaza Health Ministry said the overall Palestinian death toll since the war began in October 2023 has exceeded 73,000, with more than 174,000 people wounded.
