DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named four Pakistan players in its Team of the Tournament for the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2025, with captain Fatima Sana leading the line-up.
The all-star squad also features standout performers from the West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland, selected for their remarkable contributions throughout the competition.
Fatima Sana, Pakistan’s captain, was a driving force behind her team’s strong campaign, delivering match-winning performances with both bat and ball.
Her standout moment came against Scotland, where she took 4/23 in a rain-shortened clash that Pakistan won by six wickets.
She also showcased her batting prowess with an unbeaten 62 in a tense chase against Thailand.
Opening batter Muneeba Ali anchored Pakistan’s innings consistently, with her best knock being a steady 71 against Scotland, setting the stage for a successful chase of 187.
Spinner Nashra Sandhu was among the tournament’s most effective bowlers, taking 10 wickets at an average of 15.60.
Her vital breakthroughs in the middle overs, especially against the West Indies, kept opponents on the back foot.
Fellow spinner Sadia Iqbal was equally impactful, claiming nine wickets with an economy rate under four, highlighted by a 3/28 spell.
From other nations, West Indies’ Hayley Matthews dominated as the tournament’s top wicket-taker with 13 scalps and impressed with a brilliant 114* against Scotland.
Scotland’s Kathryn Bryce was named Player of the Tournament for her 293 runs and six wickets, while Bangladesh’s Sharmin Akhter earned her place with 266 runs, including a vital 94* against Thailand.
With Pakistan’s players leading the way and stars emerging from across the globe, the Team of the Tournament reflects the rising standard and thrilling competition of women’s cricket on the world stage.
