ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said Pakistan is looking forward to participate in Belt-and-Road Initiative summit that is to take place in China this autumn.

While speaking with the China Global Television Network, the foreign minister said he would attend the upcoming summit and was optimistic about the Pakistan-China ties.

Pakistan is the host of one of its infrastructure projects, Belt-and-Road Initiative — China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) — connecting China with the Arabian sea. China has invested over $60 billion and assisted Pakistan in assuaging its economic woes.

Foreign Minister of Hungary

Peter Szijjarto, Hungary’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, has expressed his optimism about joining the BRI summit saying, “it benefits all countries cooperating in the framework.”

FM Bilawal stated, “of course, we will [participate in the Belt-and-Road Initiative summit]. Pakistan has the CPEC, which has made immense progress. I look forward to participating in such a summit and sharing what we’ve achieved and plan to achieve together with the world.”

I expect it to go from strength to strength as it has been throughout history,” added Bilawal.

Hungary’s minister noted his country is building robust economic ties with China, with a high priority on projects under the Belt and Road Initiative summit.

“When China comes up with such kind of initiatives, you always have to take those seriously into consideration, because just remember the Belt-and-Road Initiative (BRI), when it has been established or launched, it was not taken seriously into consideration by the global public Let’s put it this way, said Szijjarto.

He added: “Now this is one of the major global and multilateral initiatives which bring progress to those working together in this framework.”

“So, we are excited to take part in the summit of the Belt-and-Road Initiative sometime in autumn in China,” the Hungarian minister said.
