ISLAMABAD: Flood-hit communities of Sindh and Balochistan are living in destitute conditions and are currently livelihood to be able to survive said Senator Sherry Rehman, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Climate Change, on Monday. In this regard, Rehman said discussion based on policies need to be updated keeping in line with the ground realities.
In a meeting arranged by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Rehman was speaking to the Donor’s Coordination Group. The donors in the meeting included Swiss, French, United Arab Emirates, Italian, Canada, US, Japan, UNDP, UN Women, The World Bank. The participating donors took a deep interest in the conceptualized projects shares by the team from IUCN and its collaborations.
Put economics based on sustainability aside in Flood Area’s
According to Senator Rehman, those who are vulnerable and worked close to nature were only seeking sustainable livelihoods and were incapable of exploiting nature itself.
Rehman stressed that economics based on sustainability should be put aside as at present these people needed to survive and rebuild their community.
