CENTURION: Pakistan scored 88 runs for the loss of three wickets against South Africa in the second innings of the first test but a deficit of two runs remained.
Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada inflicted a top-order collapse to strengthen South Africa’s grip on the match being played at the SuperSport Park.
The touring side is struggling at 88/3 with star batter Babar Azam and Saud Shakil on strike by the end of the second day’s play.

In response to South Africa’s 301 runs, Saim Ayub and captain Shan Masood opened the innings but Saim was dismissed at 28 runs by the young batter Kagiso Rabada.
The second wicket to fall was captain Shan Masood, who tried to tackle Johnson’s ball, but it hit the edge of the bat and went into the hands of the third man at the slip; he could score only 28 runs.

Kamran Ghulam, who came after him, also did not manage to gain a foothold on the wicket for long and repeated Shan Masood’s mistake. Kamran could only score four runs.
Earlier in the day, the entire South African team was bowled out for 301 runs against Pakistan with a lead of 90 runs.
Aiden Markram, who came to open for South Africa, played a brilliant innings of 89 runs, while debutant Corbin Bosch played an excellent innings of 81 runs, coming in at the ninth spot and saved his team from any major trouble.

Captain Temba Bavuma scored 31 and David 30 runs. Apart from them, no South African player was able to show a significant performance.
For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad and Naseem Shah took three wickets each, while Amir Jamal grabbed two wickets. Mohammad Abbas and Saim Ayub dismissed one player each.
Earlier, Pakistan’s entire team was bowled out for 211 runs before the end of the first day. South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl, at which Pakistan’s Saim Ayub and captain Shan Masood came out to start the game.
