MURADABAD, INDIA: A moment of sporting triumph turned into tragedy during a domestic cricket match in Muradabad district, Uttar Pradesh, when local fast bowler Ahmer Khan collapsed and died on the field moments after bowling the final delivery of the match.
The incident occurred at the Bilari Sugar Mill ground during a veterans’ match organized by the Uttar Pradesh Veterans Cricket Association. The match featured teams from Muradabad and Sambhal, with Muradabad defending a total in a tight finish.

With 14 runs needed off the last four balls, Ahmer Khan bowled a tense and match-winning final over, leading Muradabad to an 11-run victory. However, immediately after delivering the final ball, Khan reportedly began gasping for air and collapsed on the pitch.
Teammates, along with a doctor present at the venue, rushed to his aid and attempted CPR. Despite efforts to revive him, Khan was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Ahmer Khan was a well-known figure in local cricket circles and had been a regular participant in veterans’ matches.
Tournament officials and fellow players expressed deep sorrow over the sudden loss. What was a scene of celebration quickly turned into one of shock and mourning.
