In FIFA 2022 World Cup clash Portugal defeat Uruguay by 2-0 to qualify for the next stage of the tournament
Qatar: Portugal beat Uruguay 2-0 on Monday, becoming the third team eligible for the knockout stages of the World Cup alongside France and Brazil.
The Europeans dominated the ball before Fernandes fired a cross past Uruguayan keeper Sergio Rochet in the 54th minute, who was rooted to the spot as Cristiano Ronaldo rose to head the ball and make the goal his own.

Uruguay, who eliminated Portugal in the 2018 World Cup, will regret many chances and stoppages:
- Striker Rodrigo Bentancur passed three players to see his shot well.

- Luis Suarez shot from the corner.
Portugal’s second win in two games saw them top Group H with six points and move to 16th place. Uruguay, who are third with one punch, must defeat Ghana in their final group game to progress.
