DUBAI, UAE: Pakistan captain Fatima Sana produced a powerful late-order assault to steer Pakistan to a competitive 130-5 against defending champions Sri Lanka in the second semi-final of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Put into bat first, Pakistan endured an uncertain start before Fatima’s unbeaten 47 off 36 deliveries, featuring four fours and two sixes, provided the decisive impetus in the closing overs.

Pakistan lost experienced opener Muneeba Ali for just two runs in the second over, with only five runs on the board.
Shawaal Zulfiqar then launched a brisk counterattack, scoring 24 off 16 balls with four boundaries, including two sixes. Her innings ended when she was dismissed by Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu, leaving Pakistan at 29-2 after 4.4 overs.
Gull Feroza then attempted to rebuild the innings, forming partnerships with Ayesha Zafar and Sadaf Shamas, who contributed seven and eight runs respectively.
Feroza and Fatima subsequently added a valuable 40-run partnership for the fifth wicket before Feroza was dismissed on the final ball of the 16th over. She scored 21 off 32 balls.

Fatima remained unbeaten through the remainder of the innings and accelerated Pakistan’s scoring in the final overs, ensuring the Green Shirts posted a defendable total.

Tuba Hassan provided valuable support at the other end, remaining unbeaten on 12 off 10 deliveries.
For Sri Lanka, Chamudi Praboda and Athapaththu claimed two wickets apiece, while Sugandika Kumari took one wicket.

Sri Lanka now require 131 runs from 20 overs to reach the Asia Cup final, where the winner will face India on September 13.
