ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly rejected false and fabricated claims circulated by Afghan media claiming missile and jet strikes at a university in Afghanistan’s Kunar province on Monday.
Afghan and Indian media outlets are circulating claims that Pakistani jets and drones targeted Kunar University and its hostel, alleging civilian casualties based on anonymous and unverified sources.
Claims that Pakistan targeted Kunar University and its hostel are blatant disinformation; no such strikes occurred, sources said.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information’s fact-checking X account described the allegations as baseless and fabricated, clarifying that no strikes were carried out on Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan University or any surrounding residential areas.
It further stated that Pakistan conducts only precise, intelligence-based counterterrorism operations against terrorist groups based in Afghanistan.
The ministry accused Afghan media of spreading misinformation to conceal support for terrorist groups and proxies such as the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by the state as Fitna al-Khawarij, adding that these claims are being amplified by Indian media.
“The Afghan media claim is a blatant lie and an attempt to gain sympathy to cover up support by the Afghan Taliban to Fitna Al Khwarij,” it said.
It added that Pakistan’s targeting is precise and intelligence-based. “No strike has been carried out on Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan University. The claims are frivolous and fake,” it said.
It went on to say the pattern is a page of the old playbook where Afghan media creates fake news to cover up the support to terrorist groups and proxies like the Fitna al Khwarij, and gets amplification from Indian media.

Afghan and Indian media are deliberately manufacturing a narrative, using anonymous sources to push an unverified story.
This is a deliberate attempt by the Taliban Regime to manufacture outrage by falsely invoking an attack on an educational institution.
Use of vague sources reflects intentional credibility laundering to give a fake story false legitimacy, sources said.
According to sources, the timing and coordination expose an orchestrated information operation aimed at portraying Pakistan as the aggressor.
Sources said that reality remains unchanged as no strikes took place, adding that this is a coordinated propaganda campaign, nothing more.
Afghan Taliban regime and Indian propagandists exposed
The continuous propaganda around phantom strikes in Kunar by Afghan media and officials backed by the Indian propagandists exposed the Afghan Taliban regime.
The Ministry of Information stated that the propaganda indicates that the Afghan Taliban regime, having nothing to offer to its citizens in terms of service, welfare and governance, only relies on misinformation and hate.
The only thing they have learnt from their Indian propaganda masters is lies and false flag operations, Pakistan’s information ministry stated.
“Such pathetic antics and vile accusations are absurd. It should, however, be clear that as part of Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, whenever and wherever Pakistan strikes the Afghan-based terror infrastructure, it will be as per previous actions, well declared, fully owned and backed by precise evidence of targeting terror support infrastructure,” the ministry maintained.

Pakistan Army destroys multiple Afghan Taliban posts
Earlier, the Pakistan Army destroyed multiple Afghan Taliban posts in retaliatory action after unprovoked cross-border firing wounded three civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s South Waziristan district, security sources said.
The incident occurred in the Zlol Khel area of Angoor Adda in South Waziristan, where Afghan Taliban terrorists opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani civilian areas following a failed infiltration attempt by terrorists from across the border, security sources said.
According to security sources, terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by the state as Fitna al-Khawarij, attempted to enter Pakistan from Afghan territory.
Pakistani forces responded with a swift operation that thwarted the infiltration bid, the sources said. Security sources added that the military foiled all attempts by the terrorist group to cross the border into Pakistan.
Following the failed attempt, Afghan Taliban terrorists opened fire, targeting civilian areas due to “frustration after defeat”, security sources said.
Three Pakistani civilians, including two women, were injured in the Afghan Taliban’s unprovoked firing, security sources said.
