RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: England won the toss and elected to bowl first against Pakistan in the second match of the ODI tri-series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

The decision means Pakistan will bat first as they seek their second consecutive victory in the tournament, which also features Sri Lanka.

Pakistan entered the contest with confidence after defeating Sri Lanka by 37 runs in the opening match on Sunday.

Salman Ali Agha played a decisive role in that victory, scoring 107 off 90 deliveries as Pakistan posted 305 before dismissing Sri Lanka for 268.

England, meanwhile, are playing their first match of the tri-series and will look to begin their campaign with a victory.

The encounter marks another chapter in the countries’ long-standing ODI rivalry, which began in August 1974 when Pakistan defeated England by seven wickets at Trent Bridge.

The match is particularly significant as England return to ODI action on Pakistani soil after a lengthy absence.

Tri-Series Continues in Rawalpindi

The competition features Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka, with matches scheduled in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

England are due to face Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on October 22 before meeting Pakistan again at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on October 25.

The tournament concludes with the final in Lahore on October 31, featuring the two leading teams from the league stage.

Tuesday’s match offers Pakistan an opportunity to strengthen their position in the standings, while England will aim to make an immediate impact in their opening fixture.
