Eid-ul-Fitr Celebrated Across Pakistan with Devotion, Unity, and Prayers for Peace

ISLAMABAD: Pakistanis across the country on Saturday celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with traditional zeal and heartfelt devotion, beginning the festivities with special prayers for peace, unity, and national prosperity.

From villages to major cities, Eid congregations were held in mosques, and open grounds, bringing together people from all walks of life. The celebrations, which span three days, are marked by family gatherings, festive meals, and cultural traditions that strengthen bonds of friendship and community.

Eid marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The festival spreads the feelings of love, affection and compassion. Eid gives a message of solidarity and mutual harmony. This festival is imbued with the spirit of harmony and inspires us to build a peaceful and prosperous society.

In the capital city of Islamabad, the main Eid congregation took place at the majestic Faisal Mosque. A large number of worshippers, including government officials, foreign diplomats, and citizens, gathered to offer prayers in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.

Similarly, major Eid congregations were held at prominent religious sites across the country. In Lahore, thousands gathered at the historic Badshahi Mosque. In Peshawar, the congregation at Masjid Mohabbat Khan drew large crowds, while in Karachi, worshippers assembled at the grand Grand Jamia Mosque.

Across the nation, the spirit of Eidul Fitr was reflected in prayers, gratitude, and a shared hope for peace and harmony, as families and communities came together to celebrate this joyous occasion.

Religious scholars (Ulema) delivered sermons emphasising the spiritual significance of Eid-ul-Fitr—highlighting values such as gratitude, compassion, and unity. Special prayers were offered for the peace, progress, and prosperity of Pakistan, as well as the well-being of the global Muslim community.

Authorities ensured tight security arrangements nationwide to maintain a peaceful and safe environment for worshippers during the celebrations.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s top leadership extended heartfelt Eid greetings to the nation. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged citizens to embrace the spirit of Eid by promoting love, brotherhood, and social harmony. They also encouraged people to share their happiness with the less fortunate, including orphans and underprivileged communities.

The President stressed the importance of national unity, respect for the Constitution, and adherence to the rule of law, noting that Pakistan’s development and stability depend on collective responsibility.

In his message, the Prime Minister highlighted the values of sacrifice, service to humanity, and unity, adding that the government had introduced a digital wallet system during Ramadan to provide dignified financial support to those in need.

Armed forces felicitate nation

On behalf of the armed forces, Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Naval Chief Naveed Ashraf, and Air Chief Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu also conveyed Eid greetings. They described Eid as a reflection of unity, compassion, and gratitude, and paid tribute to the sacrifices of military personnel and their families who serve the nation.

The Prime Minister also expressed solidarity with those affected by conflicts, particularly in Gaza, stating that Pakistan continues to pray for global peace, security, and stability.

Overall, Eid-ul-Fitr brought together faith, compassion, and national unity, reminding citizens of their shared values and responsibilities toward one another.
