CAIRO: Egyptian minister of religious endowments Mohammed Mokhtar Gomaa on Tuesday condemned the recent spate of the Holy Qur’an burning incidents in Sweden and Denmark.

He called for authorities in the two Nordic nations to take swift action to prevent these incidents and amend any laws that encourage religious hatred, and allow offense to the sentiments and sanctities of all religions.

The minister said that let everyone know that Muslims are one nation; they may run out of patience. What is happening in these two states represents the utmost provocation of Muslims’ feelings, Arab News reported.

He said that this most egregious of incidents demand a decisive warning about the potential effects.

Media’s Silence on Sad Incidents in Sweden, Denmark

Gomaa said that he was astonished by the silence about the Qur’an desecration incidents among world media that claim to support the preservation of human rights and reject hatred and violence. This has exposed their double standards and damaged their credibility.

He also warned of the dangerous effects of such abusive behavior in a world that is being torn apart and cannot afford more conflicts, particularly religious ones.

Gomaa said that insulting the Qur’an is a racist crime, and Muslims would not allow insulting their holiest book, religion, and noble messenger, the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad PBUH, until their last breath.
